Business cards are a useful thing to have for any business to hand out at events, meetings, parties or just to have to hand for someone who enquires what services you provide. Having your information on the cards their able to look you up and contact you if they want to hire you. You can choose to do the business cards online through sites such as photobox, vista print, ebay, etc. You can either create your own style or they have a range of templates for you to choose from. I have decided to design my own and print them at home myself. This is a much cheaper way than creating them on the online sites, for 100 cards costs start from £14 - £25 then postage starts from £4 - £8.
Making my business cards was simple I used photoshop and created a custom sized canvas to the size of standard business cards 85mm x 50mm. I wanted the design to coincide with my photo portfolio book I made which will be on display for the end of year show. So this is why I decided to create the same look as the book, being as the cards will be sat with the book.
I decided on the same front cover image on the book to display on the business cards. The background colour I opted for the olive green shade same as my book, with yellow writing. The colours fit with the tones of the image. Displaying my information for on the cards such as email, telephone number, web address and facebook page, with the business in the top right hand corner.

The making of my website
Leonie Lamb Photography
Deciding on my business name was difficult, I first of all chose Little Lambs Photography. I then thought if I'm branching out into wedding and event photography Little lamb Photography sounds quite babyish. Like I should be only specialising in children and baby photography. So I then thought just keep it simple and have my own name as the business name.
Choosing Wix as my web builder to create my own professional business page, I was able to choose a template site and make changes to it to put my own mark on the page.
I was able to change the font and font size, change background designs and menu tabs to suit the genre of my website. I went for a more modern feel to the website and opted for a triangle geometric design for the background. The colour scheme is grey, black and white as I felt these colours went with anything I decided to put on the site.
Adding my social media logos I was able to add a link on them so it directs you to the pages, this makes it easier to gather followers and gain more potential customers. After the images were selected on to each category I then had to go into the settings and change a few things. First of all I had to change the image titles as whatever the image was saved as shows up when you hover over the image. Secondly I could change the image size to fit the size of the image box or let some of the image to be cropped. On the site you are able to animate the images and titles but I chose against this as I didn't want the page to look like a gimmick, I wanted a more professional modern look.
The above images are the original website I transformed to be my own. As you can see I changed everything to be my own. The webpage was neutral with pastel brown colours throughout the pages, fonts were old typewriter fonts so looked dated. I transformed the page considerably from the look at beginning, this gives me an advantage by owning my own website. Its more ideal for clients to look me up, I can also add to the page as my photography progresses.
The building of the page was straight forward and very easy to use, I didn't buy my own domain I chose to stay with the free one for now. To buy my domain name it would of cost £130 for 2 years with the cost to be paid upfront. I think this is something I will decide to do when I start to make more money.
Below are previews of my website:

Images produced for Behance portfolio
My idea for the 10 creative images to publish on Behance were around the narrative of identity. I named this collection of images obscured. To create these images I used my children as the models and done them using water, glass, and milk. Putting the children in the shower I faced the shower head to run down the glass screen and took shots of their faces pressed against the screen, and body parts. Portraits don't have to be the face it can be any part of you, so incorporating the body parts it brings home the message of the title Obscured! Adults/children in today's society hide themselves away through insecurities and paranoia. Some have problems with themselves and body so put a front on to the rest of the world, they mask who they are. Using my children as the models is a bit of a contrast of the narrative as the connotations with children are innocence, adorable, confident, and happy. But the collection of images work and I'm happy with the outcome. I used natural light from the bathroom window and took the photographs on my canon 5d using a 50 mm prime lens. The depth and focusing areas on the images make them stand out. In photoshop I changed the images to black and white and did basic edits of levels and curves, also increased contrast to hightlight parts of the images. I haven't took portraits like this before but I really enjoyed doing it. They fall under the Behance brief to create images which are experimental and creative I have taken portraiture and added my own creative take on it, putting together the obscured identity portraits.

The images I chose as my final 10:
The 10 images I chose I am very happy with my favourite is the images with the milk. I just wanted to create something quite different other than the water. I like how the milk moulds around the parts of the face forming leading lines carrying your eye around the image. With the images being in black and white you get so much more texture and detail within the image. Its as if you can actually feel the texture of the water, feel the steam from the warm waters. All the while there is something in front of the model, "obscuring" the full identity.Just like the "mask" is always in front of women/men who hide their selves away.
To increase followers and likes on my Behance account I have shared the link on my Twitter account and Facebook page. My best viewed collection of work is one that I uploaded from a previous project of side and front profile pictures. I have had some interest in my other collections but not as many as that particular one.

Obviously my passion is portraiture so I'm carrying on with sticking with this genre but putting a spin on the images from traditional portraiture. Producing creative portraits by using mirrors and reflections to distort the portrait. My idea for this follows on from my idea for the end of year show, exploring hidden identity, broken personalities, masking your true self from the world. As you get older you can see more clearly people around you behaving in this way. So by creating portraits to reflect this the viewer will get the narrative behind it, you can start questioning why is she broken, or masking herself? What made her like this? For this day in age the problem is social media, they get so engrossed in what other people have, look like, who they go out with, where they live etc. That they start trying to compete and live a lifestyle as others do. This in turn creates a monster inside them a paranoid, self conscious, doubtful, anxious person, who hides that away and puts on a mask for everyone to see. While really no one will ever know the true identity of certain individuals.
LAWRENCE SUMULONG

Lawrence Sumulong portraits are really simple yet quite effective and relates to what narrative is behind my idea. His images are concealing or obscuring the portrait which goes in hand in what I explaining above, his images are like double exposures but done in camera with reflections and textured glass. For my own images I may try textured glass, water and broken mirrors to create the same effect.

Giacomo Brunelli:

Brunelli's images have harsh contrast, he chooses black & white which gives the images an added air of mystery only seeing the shadows of the environment, animals or people. He focuses on parts of the image and does this by using light to his advantage. I am wanting my images to be black and white too, I think black and white adds to the atmosphere of the image. His images could give the same context as I am putting to my images, the shadows hide the identity. In the images you don't fully see who or what the portrait is of his maximises this in the use of his lighting and contrast. Black and white also lets you focus on the details of the image and lets you take in the whole image, if the above images were in colour I don't think they would of been as effective as they are in black and white.

Looking on the internet for some more inspirational images to help progress my own idea and thoughts on images. Incorporating water with images can give a nice abstract portrait, with the collection of artists and images I'm going to try and create my own portraits. Combining some of the elements I'm excited to try out my own technique to create some abstract portraits.
